The fourth edition of the Bangalore Times Fashion Week (BGTFW) that is
being held this weekend has two popular designers as the two day
finales. While Samant Chauhan will be the finale designer on Day 1,
Neeta Lulla will be the finale designer on Day 2.
Both the designers
have exciting collections lined up. Delhi-based Samant’s line may be
simple, clean-cut and basic, but there is a lot of work that goes into
each of the garment. Fashion, to him, is not just a popular trend, but
also a very basic form of representation that is always conceptual.
He
is a strong believer in the versatility of Bhagalpur weaving techniques
and skilled craftsmanship and gives credit to the Bhagalpur craftsmen
for his ever evolving and innovative fabrics. His colours remain very
earthy and rustic, capturing nature. Neeta presents her line Vaisayika
(sensuality in Sanskrit) in black, marsala, midnight blue and vintage
ivory.
The collection emphasises on flowers and floral motifs of the
Osmanthus, which is the traditional symbol of love. The silhouettes in
the collection are audacious, yet feminine. The collection is a call and
response between romantic Edwardian silhouettes, fabrics and Indian
embroidery fused together. It speaks the voice of a true romantic but
also demonstrates a woman of substance broadening her appeal.
